I wasn't there so I can't comment. Just heard WC played well and St Stephens was pretty decent.

You may be right but Boles will have a big year. 4 out 5 of the offensive line return and he's worked hard. The freshman is another to watch. WC has never had a freshman skill position player on varsity that I can remember getting significant minutes so he must be the real deal. EW and WC will be a great game barring injuries. How fittting for it to be the last game of the season.

I think the Ferguson kid will be the one causing trouble for all the defenses more so than Boles . How did WC do against St Stephens?? FIRST TEAM??

So far as Grimes .. just hope he can endure the 30+ carries a game again this year . It does help him that they have a cupcake schedule this year for non conference.. But will kill them come playoffs...

Great article in Winston Salem Journal about Garrett Grimes and his big nasty offensive line from Hays, Nc. Good luck Vikings to a good season, except against E.Wilkes. Lol.

WC played St Stephens the previous Wednesday. They are pretty decent. East didn't look as sharp as I expected though regardless. I'm sure they will iron it out. WC and EW will decide the conference again. Boles is goo to be hard to stop.

On the other Hand ..... The Avery(Elkinish) team was the worst team there with North Iredell(Alleghanyish))). a close 2nd . St Stevens was bay far the best of the visiting out of county teams. and probably a top 3 team if they played in the Mountain Valley....

All 3 Wilkes County schools won there respective scrimmages Friday night at the Jamboree. All teams represented well. Wilkes Central seemed to be the most versatile and the most explosive. West Wilkes has another "BigBoy" team...geez what is in the water up there...".They ran the option well and there defense..played bend dont break-ish....EW had the most #'s on their team. This is impressive for being the smallest team in the county. Their defense played well, and they have tricky and versatile offense. Qb looked good both the starter and the back up qb..made a few mistakes, but more than made up for them with a couple of beautiful td passes and gutsy runs. Its Football Season once again. Oh yeah..The Freshman rb for WC is gonna be something special (Joray).

Scrimmage is Friday at 6 I believe. They will be good, lots in the skill dept. but lines are the question. Undersized for most part pretty quick I believe. Maybe they can get it going again like last year hopefully.

No midnight madness this year from what I've heard. Don't know what the deal was but EW was flat getting off the bus and never really played like they had all year in that game. West game they started okay and started same way against Walkertown but just seemed to quit after the half wich was really unusual for an EW team since Adkins had taken over

EWFan you defintely could be right but goin on what i saw...the Ew team late in the season last year..seemed to had lost some depth and continuity. They got flat out embarrassed against Wilkes Central and that segued into consecutive losses to West Wilkes( who weren't that good) and an athletetic Walkertown team. I'm not sure what to expexct. I like the Reid kid as WR and the Wood kid provided depth on the other side of the field. I'm sure EW has the potential to be good. That 2015 team set some lofty standards and goals for the next wave of EW varsity football teams.

The Wood kid is still playing but no game changer by any means - too lazy to work on improving. The Jolly kid is I don't know about wether he is playing but he is by no means a beast - he had one good game last season against Ashe and quit afterwards when he didn't get in against Central. Quit the year before too - not a team player and a bit spoiled by his dad who showed his butt both times before the kid quit. To much hype at younger levels for both I believe.

Question for EWilkes roster? Is the Woods that plays WR not playing this year ? What about the Jolly kid that was a beast of a running back but i didnt see him toward the end of the season. Those two kids add depth and skills to the roster. I havent heard or saw anyone speak of them on the Max Preps EW page or in the FNF magazine page that chronicles the possible game changers for each high school in the state. Just wondering if those two guys were on the team.

Anyone know what's going on in Sparta? Haven't heard much about the new HC at Alleghany yet.

Thanks for that info USA. How's Elkin's freshman class in terms of numbers? Will there be more of them than usual or is it just they are that much better in talent? What's their weakpoint as well? We play them this year.

I'm wondering if Wood will play them down and let them get experience or if he will do like he did with Strickland's class and move them up? That freshman class got pounded every week that year.

Does anyone think that any of the 2A trams can get past the first round of the playoffs? Weak...as usual

Morrison is an absolute beast especially on offense.

Elkin has better players than Robinson, he's not bad, but he's far from the best from Elkin.

Ashe had 1 or 2 players that could drive to the games ! That helps a bit .
