16 year old boy attacked by a shark at OBX

Sharks don't "attack". They defend or check to see if you are eatable. Swim in their house and run the risk.

Even the sharks are in riot mode. Hope young man is ok

That is the worst ocean on the planet. Better you can see through the water.

I agree, I've gone swimming in the Caribbean and you can see a mile away! That's beautiful, crystal clear water... not like the sludge at the OBX or Myrtle Beach.

Although it's nothing like Caribbean the beaches at the OBX is not sludge for the most parts the water is clear. Idk what your saying about sludge. Fins is right about Myrtle which has caused more covid cases.

Oh, and myrtle beach has a lot more of other activities than just the beach than OBX. A lot more places for people to come into contact indoors. I don't think they kept any half capacity restrictions in place.

There is no point to your thread. You also made a ridiculous comment about people should stay out of the water like sharks are attacking like mosquitoes.

That says Myrtle Beach. That is not the OBX. The OBX has not asked people to quarantine. The reason MB has is because there has been a jump in numbers. You do remember their governor opened them up early right?

I mentioned it in passing, and you're missing the whole point of the thread.

But if it matters to you that much, states are asking people that have gone to the beach to please self quarantine, because they're getting a huge spike in cases from people that went to the beach:

You're the one that tried to say going to the beach increased the risk of viral transmission. Yet the facts are, with the weather, the beach would be a safer place to go. Then you tried to blame vacationers. But you don't know if they were weekenders or summer residents that quarantined for 14 days. In all actuality, you tried to play up the story and fear monger by mixing pandemic and sharks like some giant virus evolution to make it all scarier than it is.

I'm asking, Affy, how is it relevant whether the family was there for a day or the summer? I don't get what that has to do with the topic.

You're the one that tried to make it about the pandemic and how they shouldn't be there.

The ocean is salty because of the tears of misunderstood sharks.

But you don't know if the boy was local or they owned a home in the area and were there for the summer, not just a few days.

The article says they "were visiting Cape Hatteras... from their home in Oak Ridge." Not that they were staying in their summer home.

But I don't know how that's relevant to either the shark bite or the pandemic?

Don't you think that this shark thing has just about run it's course. Sharks are predatory fish that have lived in our oceans for millions of years, long before we humans appeared with the apparent intention poisoning the atmosphere and killing all the wildlife. So why don't you lay off Jaws and let him swim quietly on his way.

Oh, and they say salt water also kills it.

So the beach is one of the safest places to go

High humidity reduces transmission. Heat kills the virus.

The problem isn't the beach. The problem is people traveling. But you don't know if the boy was local or they owned a home in the area and were there for the summer, not just a few days. But continue your chicken little act.

High humidity?

Affy, I guess you haven't heard about the health warnings to everyone that has gone to the beach... they're all coming back infected, so they're being advised to self-quarantine for 2 weeks.

It's probably not the shore itself where they're getting infected, though, so much as the hotels and restaurants.

Actually, the beach with hot weather, high humidity, fresh air, and salt water, is one of the best places you can go. Don't be Stipud

I think most of us have a tendency to forget that the oceans are the habitat of creatures of the sea and not ours. I was standing knee deep, drinking a coup of coffee, some years back when a monster shark cruised by in no more than three feet of water. I have been cautious of the ocean since that happened.
